Lenard Dale Davenport (age 65) of Nixa, Missouri died on Friday, November 29, 2019, following a brief battle with esophageal cancer. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by his partner, family and friends. Born on February 14, 1954, to Bob and Madge Lucille (Edwards) Davenport, Lenard grew up in Blue Jacket, Oklahoma.
After finishing high school in Blue Jacket, Lenard started his career, which brought him to Springfield, Missouri. With his love for horses, he enjoyed riding and showing horses at various events throughout the Midwest. He also was a founding partner of Equine Ventures Unlimited, LLC, in which he and close friends managed horse shows at Nationals and Congresses. The shows were throughout the United States with specific focus in Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska and Kentucky. Another passion that Lenard focused so much of his efforts towards was AIDS Project of the Ozarks (APO). His devotion to APO was felt through his unwavering support for its mission and his involvement on the board of directors. Lenard was also an active member of the Mount Zion Presbyterian Church in Willard, Missouri. For those who knew Lenard, he brought happiness to their lives through his kindness and love.
He is survived by his long-time partner, Mark Hardman; sisters Mary Alice (Marion) Floyd, Jane (Bob) Apperson, JoAnne Davenport; bothers Denver (Cindy) Davenport and Larry (Mary Jane) Davenport. He is also survived by his uncle Dallas (Pat) Edwards; cousins Roger Davenpoort and Pamela Peters, as well as several nieces and nephews. Lenard is also survived by his God daughter, Michael Harris of Springfield, MO.
Lenard was preceded in death by his father and mother.
The family is hosting a visitation to be held at 10:30 AM December 7, 2019 at Mount Zion Presbyterian Church in Willard, Missouri. A memorial service will start at 11:00 AM following the visitation.
