Leetta Jane (Cutbirth) McCoy, age 65, passed away to be with her almighty Father on Friday, December 21 at her home in Galena, MO. Leetta married Gary McCoy on November 26, 1971, and became a mother to two wonderful sons. She gained two daughters by marriage (her words) and was blessed with one awesome grandson (also her words). In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Leetta had a long and varied career outside the home; working first in the garment factory, then with her sister Betty in various restaurants in Nixa & Ozark. She and her husband, Gary, also owned and operated a small dairy farm in Galena for many years. Leetta believed in doing whatever you set your mind to, so she went back to school at age 40 and earned her Associate's degree in the legal field, then served as Executive Director for Stone County E911 for several years. She also worked as a paralegal and bookkeeper before retiring to enjoy her family and only grandchild. Leetta had a joyful, giving spirit and loved to serve her Lord Jesus and others in her community. She was a member of the Ponce Baptist Church in Ponce, MO.
Leetta is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary McCoy of Galena; a son, Gary Scott and his wife Cara McCoy of Spokane; a grandson, Brandon McCoy of Spokane; a son, Chad and his wife Cristin McCoy of Galena; her sister, Janice Cutbirth of Galena; her brother, Burney James Cutbirth of Galena; her sister-in-law, Susie McCoy and husband Richard Anderson; and a large host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Burney and Vernadeen Cutbirth; her sister, Betty Robertson, and many other loved relatives. Leetta always said she was blessed to have a wonderful family, who she would do anything for. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends down here, but all are rejoicing that she gained her angel wings up in heaven today.
