Leeroye Maples

Leeroye Maples was born on December 16, 1932 in his family home southeast of Clever, Missouri. He peacefully passed from this life to his heavenly home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in the comfort of his home in Nixa, Missouri. Leeroye served in Korea from March 1953 to December 1954 where he cleared land mines. He loved his country and was proud to serve in the Army. He had the privilege of going on the Honor of Flight of the Ozarks in October 2014. Leeroye loved his Lord. He cumulatively served a total of 40 years as a pastor at Jamesville Baptist, Shady Grove Baptist, Springhill Baptist, and concluded his ministry at his home church, Union Ridge Baptist, where he was saved at the age of 13. He also worked at Hudson Oil and Springfield City Utilities for 20 years each. He made many friends during his lifetime. Leeroye was preceded in death by his parents Alzie and Edith (Fugitt) Maples. He is survived by Velma, his loving wife of 62 years; two daughters, Regina Turner (Alan), Tamela Lasswell (Mark); three sons, Timothy (Gayle), Mark (Teresa), and Paul (Amanda); 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; as well as two sisters, Jackie Medlin and Barbara Deboie, several nieces and nephews, and his Uncle Joe Maples. Leeroye was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Union Ridge Baptist Church, Clever. Burial with military honors will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Union Ridge Cemetery, in care of Jerry Maples, 4508 State Highway M, Clever, MO 65631.
