Lawrence "Cowpoke"� Achor, age 85, of Ava, passed away Sunday morning, October 23, 2011, in his home. At his side were his wife Nellie, a grandson Mike and niece Joyce. He was born April 18, 1926 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of William Henry Achor and Cora Augusta (Getman) Achor. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On April 25, 1951 he and Nellie Jean Dever were united in marriage. Lawrence was a hard worker and was always there to lend a hand to family and friends whenever needed. He worked in construction, was a farmer, and retired from Ash Grove Lime Company. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved hunting, especially deer hunting. He loved his wife, his daughter, grandchildren and great-children and will be missed by each family member. Survivors include: His wife, Nellie; a daughter, Della; three grandsons, Gene and wife Theresa, Michael and Crystal; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucy; nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. A graveside funeral will be 10:00 AM Friday, October 28, in Highlandville Cemetery, with Pastor Frank Bostic officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
