Lavon Marie Hensley, age 73 of Nixa, passed away January 9, 2013. She was born January 6, 1940 in Rueter, Missouri, the daughter of Everett and Minnie (Rozell) Tidwell. On June 19, 1959, Lavon was united in marriage to Elmer (E.C.) Hensley in Washington, D.C. Lavon was a member of Nixa First Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting, square dancing and flower gardening. Survivors include: her husband, E.C. Hensley, Nixa; her daughter, Janel Harris and husband Scott, Nixa; her daughter in law, Mary McCarthy Hensley, St. Louis; five grandchildren, Riley, Hayden, Mitchell and Jack Harris and Ryan Hensley; her sister, Lavonna Brashers, Wyandotte, Oklahoma; her brother Larry Tidwell, Ozark; special friends, Richard and Glenda Bass; and a host of family and friends. Lavon was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Bruce Hensley. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Terry Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Care to Learn-Nixa.
