Larry Gene Stroud, age 65, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011. He was a Pierce City High School graduate and attended Missouri State University. He graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1972. Larry was a funeral director and mortician for 39 years. He served on the Missouri Funeral Director and Embalmer Association for many years, and was elected board president in 2008. Larry was an avid golfer and enjoyed telling and hearing a humorous story. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Pauline Stroud and a brother, Paul Stroud. Survivors include: His wife of 42 years, Cathy Stroud; a son, Brandon Stroud, and daughter, Stephanie Stroud, both of Springfield; two brothers, Jerry Stroud and wife Nancy, Monett, and Sam Stroud and wife, Pat, Wichita, Kansas; nieces, Mendi Wormington and husband Jared, and Carrie Zahn and husband Andrew, all of Monett; nephews Jonathan Stroud, Dallas Texas, and Matthew Stroud, Sturgis, South Dakota; a sister-in-law, Judy Twichel and husband Mark, Salt Lake City, Utah, and niece and nephew Laura and Scott Twichel, Salt Lake City, Utah; and many beloved and special great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be from 6:00 "� 8:00 PM Thursday, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday in the funeral home, with Pastor Jamie Bilyeu officiating. Burial will follow in McConnell-Bledsoe Cemetery, Nixa.
