Larry Montiel

Larry Firmen Montiel, age 77, of Nixa, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018. He was born April 28, 1940 in California, the son of Ylario and Tomasa Montiel. He and Peggy Carrol O'Neil were married September 11, 1960. Larry served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He and Peggy have lived in Nixa since the 1960's. He was a member of Nixa Church of Christ. Larry worked at area lumber companies, and worked at Nixa Hardware for many years. Recently he had worked at Silver Dollar City. He enjoyed fishing and watching wrestling on TV. Larry was very outgoing and never knew a stranger. Survivors include: Two sons, Juan Montiel of Highlandville, and Michael and wife Ronda of Nixa; two grandchildren, Juan Miguel Montiel and wife Becky and April Cate and husband Josh; two great-grandchildren, Ivy Montiel and Alayna Cate; two sisters, Rachel and Jenny; and a brother, Norbert; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends. Peggy preceded Larry in death in 2013. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and his parents. Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Saturday, February 10, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in Richwood Cemetery, alongside Peggy. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service in the funeral home.
