Larry Wayne Long

Larry Wayne Long, age 75, of Springfield, Missouri, joined Jesus in Heaven on October 9, 2023 after a long illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother. Larry is survived by his wife, Maria, and his children, Jeff, Amy, Gennifer, Justin, Lari, and Daniel. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry, and brother, Dewayne, along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Larry dedicated his life to making a positive difference in the lives of youth through various non-profits, including Boys & Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Life 360 Community Services, Camp Fire Boys & Girls, Ozarks Family YMCA, and Head Start. During his career, he was a member of the Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club and also various Kiwanis Clubs.

As a “Club Kid”, his fondest memories center around his experiences in service to youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs. He created life-changing impact with Boys & Girls Clubs in Springfield (MO), Des Moines (IA), Hamilton (OH), Waco (TX), Dale City (VA), Macon (GA), Branson (MO), Kilmarnock (VA), Bemidji (MN), and Durant (OK). Larry was very proud of being inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield’s Hall of Fame in 2019.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield, 1410 N. Fremont Ave., Springfield, MO 65802.

A Celebration of Life will occur on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 2-4 pm at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, Musgrave Unit, located at 720 S. Park Ave.At this "come and go" celebration, the family encourages stories and memories to be shared.
