Larry Steven Hurst, age 64 of Nixa, passed away January 8, 2013. He was born April 15, 1948 in Connersville, Indiana, the son of Kenneth and Joyce (Commons) Hurst.
Larry graduated from Hagerstown High School in Indiana and the University of Maryland.
He served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam War. On June 12, 1971 Larry married Cheryl Grubbs. He worked as a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation until his retirement.
Larry was a great father and grandfather. He loved his family. Larry enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, hunting ducks and geese and studying the Bible. He could be viewed by his friends and family as contrary and a little ornery, always making folks laugh. Larry will be missed dearly.
Survivors include: his wife, Cheryl Hurst; his mother, Joyce Hurst; his son, Chris Hurst and wife Rachel; his daughter, Lisa Barnes and husband Kent; four grandchildren, Gavin Barnes, Eldon Barnes, Clara Barnes and Ethan Hurst; two brothers, Howard and Michael Hurst; and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday in North Nixa Baptist Church, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Saturday, immediately before the service in the church.
Private burial will be at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
