Larry Dean Countryman, age 76, of Ozark, passed away at home peacefully with his family at his side, Thursday, August 6, 2015. He was born in Esbon, Kansas, on February 12, 1939 to Francis and Evelyn Countryman. The family moved when Larry was nine months old to the family farm near Ozark.
Larry graduated from Ozark High School in 1957 and entered the Navy. Following retirement from the Navy in 1978, Larry gained his BS in Industrial Arts from SMS. He began his teaching career with the Chadwick School System. Upon retirement from teaching, Larry maintained a cattle operation on the family farm.
Larry married Sandra Kay Rathbun, from Sparta, on December 19, 1962. Together they had two children, Traci Leigh and Bradly Alan.
Survivors include: His wife, Sandra; a daughter, Traci Countryman of Springfield; a son, Bradly Countryman and wife Michelle and grandsons, Ryan Countryman and wife Chelsea, and Bailey Countryman, all of Belton; two sisters, Wanda McMullin of Ozark, and Linda Hart and husband Greg of Rogers, AR; a brother, Jerry Countryman of Ozark; four nephews, Larry Ray and Richelle Rathbun of Kilgore TX, Bruce and Leslie Rathbun of Marshfield, Travis and Teresa Countryman of Fair Play, and Andy and Traci Countryman of Kemmerer, WY; three nieces, Teresa and Lee Daniels of Lenoir City, TN, Shelly and Mike Welch of Ozark, and Kim and Stan Lippelman of Springfield; a host of cousins and other relatives, and many friends in Missouri, Kansas, Wyoming, and Texas.
A graveside funeral will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 10, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00PM Sunday, August 9, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
