Lannes "Lanny" Stewart

September 6, 1939 — August 25, 2018

Lannes D. Stewart (Lanny) was born September 6, 1939 in Picher, Oklahoma to Ruth and Luther Stewart and passed away on August 25, 2018. Lanny was a member of the Picher United Methodist Church. He attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College at Miami and the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque. He was married to his wife Shirley at the Fellowship Baptist Church of Baxter Springs, Kansas on May 16, 1959. Lanny worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for seventeen years and was a Charter Life Underwriter. After leaving Metropolitan he was associated with the former S&S insurance company in Ozark where he served as vice-president. In 1988 he was employed by Great Southern Insurance and remained until his retirement in 2002. During the 1980s, Lanny served on the Ozark Planning and Zoning Commission. Lanny is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Ozark, two sons, Randy Stewart and wife Martha of Drexel, Missouri and Richard Stewart and wife Jane of Ozark, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Susan Edmiston and husband John of Ozark, and a brother Owen Stewart of Chetek, Wisconsin, several nieces and ne A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
