Kathryn "Kitty" W. Lawson was born on May 21, 1958 to Jimmie R. Plank and Verda R. (Murray) Plank. She grew up in Nixa, MO as the second of three children. She was salutatorian of Nixa Class of 1976. Kitty worked at Fasco Industry for nearly 30 years followed by United Healthcare for two years and Carlisle Power Transmission for ten years.
She loved being independent, hardworking, quick witted, mischievous, fun, and caring. She had an infectious laugh and always kept a positive attitude. She always said her greatest legacy is her daughter, Shanda R. (Lawson) Dorff, though her daughter thought her legacy was Kitty's amazing example of courage, strength of character, and ability to achieve any goal she set her mind to as long as she was willing to work for it. She was a perfect example of a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and soulmate with unconditional love. She was a hero and constantly giving. She will be eternally loved, cherished and missed while we are confident she is comfortable and cancer-free in Heaven. She passed away peacefully on October 26, 2016 surrounded by family and friends.
Kitty was preceded in death by her grandparents, Isaac "Doc" Murray and Fern (Howerton) Murray, Ralph Plank and Clora (Holder) Plank; her father, Jimmie Plank; younger brother, Greggory Plank; cousins; and extended family members.

Please note that Kitty wanted it mandated that "NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO WEAR ALL BLACK," and everyone MUST be ready to celebrate her life and have a good time. In fact, she requested that if anyone was to show up in all black that the person must then put on a bright colored outfit. If interested, her favorite color was blue, specifically royal blue.
