Kirk Allen Whittington

Kirk Allen Whittington departed this life in his family home at the age of 59 on January 31st, 2018 after a brave fight with cancer. Kirk was born on September 8th, 1958 in Springfield, Missouri and lived much of his life in Springfield and Ozark. In the past he worked for Litton and Solid State Circuitry. Kirk later worked at Missouri State University for 16 years where he had retired in 2017. In recent years, he purchased his parents' home in Ozark and enjoyed renovating in his free time. He was an avid animal lover and his cat Chloe was his faithful companion. He was a Land Rover enthusiast, enjoyed music, barbequing, and spending time with friends and family. He was well known for his generous heart and an ornery sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia (Collins) Whittington and Father Jack Whittington. Kirk is survived by his children Kayce (Whittington) & Brandon Morton, Nixa, MO., Jessica Whittington, Springfield, MO., and Curt & Yulia Whittington, Ozark, MO.; 3 sisters; Diana & Gary Dixon, Blue Springs, MO., Suzy & Brad Thomas, Ozark, MO., Patti & Tom Miller, Fair Grove, MO.; 2 grandchildren Ashlyn & Cooper Morton, and a granddaughter on the way, Isla Whittington. Kirk requested to be cremated. His ashes will be interred at the family plot at Richwood Cemetery in Ozark, Missouri. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark, Missouri with Pastor Charlene Dart officiating. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at Cassidy Methodist Church following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to C.A.R.E Animal Rescue, Springfield, MO.
