Kevin Thomas King, age 59, of Clever passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015. He was born March 28, 1956 at, Tachiaawa AFB, near Tokyo, Japan to Colonel Thomas and Ann (Butler) King. He was raised in Oklahoma, graduated from Oklahoma University with a BA in academic letters in 1979. He graduated from Columbia University, NY, in 1982, with a master's degree in marketing. He then joined the Peace Corps where he volunteered and traveled to various Caribbean islands including Dominica and St.Kitts. While living in St.Kitts, Kevin was blessed with his daughter Kelvenia King Johnson. When he moved back to the United States he became an investigator for the Department of Labor, and then transferred to the office of Inspector General. After his training at Quantico, he was assigned to the Houston Office. There he met Karen and the two began dating. They became engaged when he was transferred to the Denver office in 1991 and married thereafter on a cruise ship.
Kevin was a kind and loving father and husband. He enjoyed traveling and experiencing different cultures around the world.�He was opinionated and strong willed.�He had a soft heart, especially with his family.�He loved his family very much.�
Kevin was proud of his career.�He was a man of high character and ethics.�He was persistent with his investigations and received many awards for his performance throughout his career. While�working for the O.I.G. he worked in Houston, Dallas, Denver, Washington, D.C. and Chicago. Kevin retired in 2006, and moved to Clever with his wife Karen.
Kevin is survived by his wife Karen King; daughter: Kelvenia King Johnson; grand-daughter Giselle Nicole Johnson; son-in law Kelvin Johnson Jr.; brothers Thomas Henry King Jr, of Eldorado Hills, CA and Edward Thomas King, of Edmond, OK;
sisters Beverly Anne King Baroski, of Canyon Lake, TX and Bette Anne King Matthews, of Woodway, TX; 3 stepsons Jason Hillhouse, of Littleton CO, Michael Hillhouse, of Lakewood, CO and Lance Hillhouse of Lakewood, CO; 6 Hillhouse grandchildren; and numerous nieces, great nieces, and nephews.
Kevin is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Richard King.
A memorial service will be held�at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016�in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with a visitation prior to the service,�from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.�in the funeral home.
