Kent Calvin Curl, age 72, peacefully passed away on June 21, 2024, in his home. He was born on April 16, 1952, in Dunnegan, Missouri to Bueford and Neta (Vest) Curl. Kent took pride in sharing his birthday with his cherished daughter Kerri. On July 24, 1971, Kent joined in matrimony with Kathy Simmons.
Kent's educational journey included graduating from Fair Play High School in 1970. Growing up on his family's Century Farm brought him immense joy – he dedicated himself to the tasks of sowing corn, tending to the tractor, and caring for the cattle.
He was baptized at the Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dunnegan, Missouri. An avid Nascar enthusiast, Kent had a special fondness for the sport which led him to attend Nascar school in Kansas. Many treasured memories were created as he spent memorable times at the track. Not only was he a member of the Shriners, but he also actively participated in the annual Sertoma Cook Off.
Kent found fulfillment and joy in his work as well. Over a span of more than 40 years, he navigated an 18-wheeler while employed by RBX, ACT, and TWG – showcasing his trucks with delight to his grandchildren.
A man who charted his own course in life, Kent held family close to his heart and shared a deep bond with his granddaughters. His faithful dog companion Kaptain held a special place in his heart. Kent cherished family birthday celebrations at Jimm's Steakhouse.
Left to cherish his memory are Kathy Curl, the mother of his children; a son Kris Curl and life partner Deb; a daughter Kerri Roberts and her husband Aaron; three granddaughters Karissa and Keira Roberts and Dilara Curl; a brother Danny Curl; nieces Allison Blamey and her husband Aaron and Ashley Asbey and her husband Chris; and cherished friends John and Debby Turner.
Kent is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before him: his parents Bueford and Neta Curl; brother Freddie Curl; a sister-in-law Diane Curl and his third wife Lana Curl.
