Katie Lee Mabe, of Nixa, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024. She was born December 18, 1937, in Nixa, where she continued to live throughout her life. Her parents were George "Jack" Wolfe, and Gladys (Maples) Wolfe. On May 7, 1953, she and Jimmy Dale "Jim" Mabe were united in marriage.
Katie was instrumental along with Jim in starting the famous Baldknobbers Show in Branson. She was hands on helping with whatever needed to be done, and also worked in accounting for the business. Her grandkids loved to hear stories about the Baldknobber wives standing on the curb encouraging potentials customers to "come on in". Katie was the number one fan and avid supporter of Droopy Jr. (son Tim).
Katie was a devout Christian and a longtime member of Riverdale Baptist Church, where she had played the organ. Later in life she enjoyed eating out and playing solitaire and other games on her computer.
Katie's family was always so important to her. She loved each one and looked forward to spending time with them.
Survivors include: Her son, Tim Mabe and wife Patty, of Springfield; grandchildren Brandon Mabe and Megan, and Breanna Winburn and Derrick; great-grandchildren, Broden, Jalyn, Carter, Wyatt, Nikki, Sydney, Shayna, and Hayden; great-great-grandchildren, Everlynn and Vivienne; nephews and nieces.
