Kathy Kay Combs

July 11, 1949 — December 2, 2024

Springfield, Missour

Kathy Kay Combs, 75, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024. She was born on July 11, 1949, to William and Annabelle (Simmons) Combs.

Kathy lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.

A proud graduate of Wasco High School, Class of 1967, Kathy played the clarinet in the school band. Her nurturing spirit and devotion to her siblings made her a second mother to her younger brothers and sisters, forming bonds that would remain unbreakable throughout her life.

Kathy earned her bachelor's degree in History with a minor in Psychology from Fresno State University, a testament to her intellectual curiosity and love of learning. Following in her father’s footsteps, she built a successful career in sales and marketing, particularly in automotive sales, where she brought her warmth and charisma to every customer and colleague she met.

Her career also fed her love for travel, taking her to breathtaking destinations such as Italy, Alaska, and countless places across the United States. Through these journeys, Kathy cultivated lifelong friendships, spreading joy and forging connections everywhere she went.

Kathy’s outgoing and compassionate personality made her a cherished presence in the lives of her family and friends. Known as the “good aunt,” she delighted in surprising her nieces and nephews with thoughtful gifts at Christmas and birthdays, earning a special place in their hearts. Her passion for gardening, combined with her love for animals, especially cats, brought her immense happiness. Over the years, Kathy lovingly cared for many feline companions, most recently her beloved Abby and Simon, whom she adored like children.

A natural extrovert with a talent for making everyone feel welcome, Kathy never met a stranger. Her home was always open, and her kindness extended to both people and animals in need. Whether rescuing a kitten, tending to her garden, or sharing stories with loved ones, Kathy lived her life with boundless love and generosity.

Kathy is survived by: one brother, Doug Combs (Kathy); one sister, Linda Combs, many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend, Kelly Lewis.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Michael Combs and her sister-in-law, Deb Combs.
