Juanita (Dede) June Turner

September 8, 1934 — January 28, 2025

Ozark

Juanita June Ramsey Turner was born September 8, 1934, to parents Ted and Alta Ramsey. She had three older sisters, Faye, Ruth, and Thelma; an older brother, Gene, and a younger brother, Charles. Her brother Gene could not pronounce Juanita, and so he called her Dede, which became her lifelong name.  Living on the farm, she learned the value of hard work, while attending school in a one room schoolhouse. Later, Dede began working when she was fourteen and had a variety of jobs. Such as, childcare, waitressing, factory work, contracting for cleaning new construction homes, pet sitting and home health care along with church visitation to homebound members.

Some of her favorite interests were, quilting, camping, crafts, helping animals, which included fostering or adopting strays, and working puzzles and playing games. Another favorite was participating in the Persimmon Days in Sparta, for which she made many costumes and walked in the parade. She and her husband, Bob, enjoyed going to the Oldfield Opry. Dede helped many people in her lifetime, both family and friends. She took their troubles as her own and was a good advocate for those she loved. She was well known for her home cooking and her common sense, which she offered whether it was requested or not. She had a long and fruitful life and was well loved by family and friends.

She endured many health problems, and at age ninety she became ill and was admitted to Cox South on Saturday, January 25, 2025, and went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Dede was preceded in death by her husband of more than forty years, Bob Turner. She was the last member of her generation to pass away and left a family of three daughters; Yvonne, Tricia, and Glenda, Two sons: Jim and John, her niece, Joey, five great nieces, and two great nephews, seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.
