Joseph James Kucera, age 52, of Springfield passed away Monday, August 22, 2016. He was born January 10, 1964 in Tulsa, OK to Claire and Sue (White) Kucera. Joseph grew up in Tulsa and joined the Army in 1985. He was an infantryman and a tank operator. He won the Army Achievement medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon. Joseph also served as a Drill Sergeant. Joseph moved to Springfield in 2008 and worked in maintenance, metal fabrication and many other trades.
Joseph was rarely seen without his sunglasses. He was a helpful and giving person. Joseph was fearless and very adventurous. He liked rock climbing, skydiving, and playing pool. Joseph also liked motorcycle riding. Joseph never knew a stranger.
Joseph is survived by his daughters Mallori Kucera and Robyn Chelsie Alarfaj and her husband Muath of Tulsa; a grandson Landon Kucera; and his four sisters Susan, Cookie, Peggy, and Sally.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
