Joseph C. "Jay" Engle

Joseph C. "Jay"� Engle, age 89 of Fremont Hills, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was born July 3, 1924 in Hutton Valley, Missouri, the son of William and Ada Mae (Lee) Engle. Jay graduated from Mountain View High School in 1941. After graduation he moved to Ozark. On June 5, 1955, he married Barbara Ebert in Billings, Missouri. Jay attended Drury College. He worked at Ozark Bank until his retirement as Senior Vice President in 1989. Jay"�s passions were music and banking. In the early 1950"�s he enjoyed playing the organ with the Presleys"� Country Jubilee. He still enjoyed giving financial advice (sometimes for a Snickers bar) up until a month ago. Jay was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Jay was a lifelong member of Ozark Christian Church where he was the organist for 50 years, served as a trustee, held various offices and was active in the Christian Mens Fellowship. Presently, Jay was attending choir rehearsals for the upcoming Christmas Cantata at Cassidy United Methodist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Engle, Fremont Hills; two children, Terrie Gaither and husband John, Iowa City, Iowa and Karen Wilkerson and husband David, Rogersville; three grandchildren, Lori Gaither, Erin Ostola and husband John, and Amy Sampson; and four great grandchildren, Cameron Sampson, Wyatt Sampson, Landon Ostola and Eden Ostola. Jay was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pauline Kimmons. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Private burial will follow. Visitation will be from 10:00 "� 11:00 a.m. immediately before the service on Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to Finley River Community Foundation, P.O.
