Joseph L. Hyatt

Joseph Lynn Hyatt age 73, of Sparta, passed away and joined his Savior on November 30, 2015. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on January 13, 1942. He was the only child of John W. and Madge Hyatt of Sparta. The family moved from Kansas City to the current family farm of Sparta in 1944. He graduated from the Sparta School District in 1959 and joined the Navy after graduation. He served his country from 1959 to 1965. While stationed in California during his service with the Navy, he met and married Janet Brown, his wife of 53 years. The couple was blessed with two sons. In 1965 he was employed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and worked as a radio dispatcher until his retirement in 1994. He was a 1977 graduate of Drury University. He spent his remaining years working and playing on the family farm. He received much enjoyment from watching his sons and granddaughters numerous activities. Joe is survived by his loving wife Jan; two sons, John Hyatt of Sparta, Jeff Hyatt and wife Shelby of Sparta; and two grandchildren, Jonna and Jadrien. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Madge Hyatt. Visitation is scheduled at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark on Wednesday, December 2nd, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30. Graveside burial service with military honors will be Thursday December 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Lake Springfield Missouri. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the College of the Ozarks Athletic Fund or the Sparta R-III School Foundation Fund.
