Johnny L. Maples, age 64 of Highlandville, died August 2, 2015. He was born July 27, 1951 in Ozark, the son of Joe and Betty (Cox) Maples.
Johnny was saved at an early age. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Johnny was a 1970 graduate of Galena High School. He served as a bus driver for Galena Schools and also worked as a mail carrier.
Survivors include: his wife, Dwallin, Highlandville; daughter, Sarah Jo, of the home, his parents, Joe and Betty Maples, Highlandville; brother, Kirby and wife Sherry of Crane; sisters, Debbie of Nixa, Georgia of Highlandville; nephews, Jason and Melissa and Justin and Susie; great nephews and nieces, Dawson, Anna and Reece; special adopted grandkids, Morgan Baker, and Bradley and Ryliegh Maples; an aunt, Lenora and Joe Tatum; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends.
Johnny loved attending auctions, watching rodeos and John Wayne movies on T.V. Each year he would attend the PBR in Springfield. He was a devoted husband of 42 years, father and special uncle to Adrianna Wilson. He will be greatly missed by all.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015 in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in Flood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, immediately before the service in the church.
