Johnnie (John) Calvin Nichols Jr., age 73, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was born on March 1, 1952, in Yuba City, California, to Johnnie Calvin Nichols Sr. and Daisy Nichols.
John grew up in Bentonville, Arkansas, and spent his career working in farming, construction, and concrete finishing. With over 35 years of experience, John took great pride in his work. He proudly served in the United States Army.
John met Martha Rusk in high school, they married and had two children. After they divorced, he met Susan Britton in 1973, they later married in 1978, had five children, making seven in total.
John was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. Having never met a stranger, he was known for his generosity, kind heart, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
John is survived by his children: Rachel Ann Norton and her husband Troy, Matthew Cowger, Jonathan Nichols and his wife Nancy, Justin Nichols and his wife Nadine, Joseph Nichols, Elizabeth Stojanovich and her husband George. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Emma Nation, Katie Vogen, Raedayen Cowger, Kole Cowger, Courtney Nichols, Katarina Stojanovich, and Asher Stojanovich; and great-grandchildren: Jolee Mae Vogen, Olive Vogen, and Murphy Nation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Rick Nichols, Mike Nichols, and David Nichols, younger sister, Debbie Minnick, and his daughter Jennifer Nichols.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at McConnell-Bledsoe Cemetery in Nixa with full military honors.
