John Francis Uhrig, age 77, left this world on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 to reside with his Lord and beloved wife in heaven. He was born to Frank and Lucille (Sprandio) Uhrig on February 8, 1937 in Verona, Missouri. He was united in marriage to his cherished wife, Eileen Frances Uhrig, for 54 years. Before retiring in 2007, he worked as an Application Engineer for FASCO for 45 years.
He was the pillar of a large and happy family who valued him as their unwavering advisor. A humble man, John lived his faith through actions and could always be counted on to comfort and listen to anyone in need. Nearly every day of the year, he could be found outdoors, mowing the lawn, fixing something around the house, or picking tomatoes and strawberries with his great grandchildren. As well as being a singularly devoted husband and father, he also took great pride in his career and served his country in the U.S. National Guard. Nicknamed Pampa by his grandchildren, he had a steady voice, a warm handshake and a comforting hug that could cure all ills.
He is survived by: His children, Tamara Selsor, Jeffrey Uhrig, Sheila Gardiner, and Monica Hunter; 3 sisters, Irene, Pauline, Loretta; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Uhrig in 2013; 1 sister, Maxine; and his parents.
