John Shearer

John Daniel Shearer, age 80, of Ozark passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, surrounded by his friends at Century Pines Assisted Living in Ozark. He was born in Panora, Iowa, December 3, 1933, the eldest of six children born to Mark McDonald Shearer Sr., and Helen Peterson Shearer. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Mark Shearer Jr, Gerald Shearer, and Joseph Shearer. Survivors include: his brother, Robert Shearer; sister Starla Gann and husband Kenny; sisters-in-law Alice Nelson and Sharon Shearer; many nieces and nephews; and special friends in Arkansas the Ole Charlton family. John was an avid collector of many things. He was proud of his service for 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He served as a Russian translator for most of his service time. Graveside Military Honors will be held for John at 9:00 AM on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
