John F. Lancaster, age 83, of Nixa passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015. He was the last of seven sons and four sisters, and the last survivor. He was born on the plains of Texas, in his home near Crosbyton, to Roy and Stella (Burton) Lancaster. There was no record of a doctor or midwife present. John grew up around Wichita Falls, TX. He moved to Las Angeles in the 1960's, where he was a butcher and later an electrician for Bellflower Unified Schools. John and his family moved to Nixa in 1992. He started a lawn service business named Turf Tiger. John married Virginia Armstrong in October 4, 1963, in Tucson, AZ. John was a charismatic man and had the energy of three people. He always worked hard. John liked travel to Bowie, TX several time a year to play in Texas 42 Dominos tournaments.
John is survived by his son Matthew, and his wife Carol, of Anaheim, CA; a daughter Charlotte Lancaster, of Hartville; A grandchild he raised as his son, Kenny Woodward; and his special friend Amanda Bolin, of Nixa; Amanda's grandson Charlie Riley, of Clever, who was John's special little buddy; many other grandchildren; great grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; two nieces Mary Kane, of Lawton, OK, and Rebecca Chaves, and her husband Sixto, of Nocona, TX; and John's best friend Emil Schrickel, and family.
John is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Virginia, his son Johnny; and all of his brothers and sisters,
A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 26, 2015, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
