John Anthony Estes

John Anthony Estes, age 68, of Springfield, MO passed away Tuesday, Dec 26th in his home with his dear friend by his side of natural causes. He was born in Independence, MO to Carl Eugene Estes and Ruth Virginia (Stine) Estes. As a young boy his family moved to Ozark, MO where he grew up and eventually referred to as his "old stompin grounds". There he began his love of hunting, fishing and looking for arrowheads on the Finley and James with family and friends. Especially his cousin and best friend Derald Stine who preceded him in death. He graduated from Ozark High School in 1961 where he excelled in Basketball and Track. After high school, he spent most of his career in construction with Debco Construction. Throughout his life he continued his love of the outdoors with his family and friends. He loved music (especially the banjo) and to socialize with his family, neighbors, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother Kim Estes, his sons, Scott Estes, Jeremy Estes, Cody Estes and a daughter Angela Muggenburg and 5 grandchildren. Also, Carol Estes, Peggy Stine, Sam Stine, Becky Stine and Cathy Stine. As well as, many other close neighbors and friends that will miss him greatly. A celebration and remembrance of his life will be held Saturday, Dec 31st from 3-6 pm at WF Cody's Located at 3138 E. Sunshine.
