John Lee Curtis, age 84, of Ozark, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014. He was born October 22, 1930 in Gloversville, New York, the son of John William and Catherine (Leach) Curtis. On December 23, 1949 he was united in marriage to his beloved wife Joan Marie (Passero) Curtis, who preceded him in death on March 9, 1997. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the V.F.W.
John was a loving and giving family man. He was a jokester, and always made others feel welcome and accepted. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, extending his giving personality beyond the family to others. John was a proud Republican.
Survivors include: Five sons, John Curtis Jr. of Gloversville, NY, and his children, Melissa and Thea, Donald Curtis and wife Sylva of Jenks, OK and his children Curt, Jeff and Kelsey; Chris Curtis of Tampa, Florida, and his children, Christopher, Matthew, Alisha, and Jonathon, David Curtis of Nixa, Marc Curtis and his wife Janet of Owasso, Oklahoma and their son William; three daughters, Catherine Curtis of San Francisco, CA, and her daughter Stacy, Lynn Markos-Moore and her husband Steve of Columbia, SC, and their children Amber, Weston, Baylee, Cam, Lyric, Chelsey, Dylan, Shaylynn, and Kyler; and Janis Rex and her husband Russ of Ozark, and their children, Robyn, Hannah, and Royce; other grandchildren include, Jennifer, Pamela, Vincent Jr., and Lisa; great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many others who called him "Dad" or "Grandpa".
John was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, a son, Vincent; his parents and five siblings.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 29, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. A graveside funeral will be at Ferndale Cemetery, in Gloversville, New York.
