Joe C. Moore, age 86, of Springfield passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016. He was born in rural Christian County March 11, 1930 to Louis and Ida Belle (Holstine) Moore. Joe attended school until the eighth grade then his family moved to the State of Washington. Joe worked on the farm until he joined the Marines, serving in the Korean War. He owned and operated an express freight company for many years.
Joe enjoyed deer hunting and going to the river. He took the family camping when his children were young. Joe was a quiet man and stayed to himself. He was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. Joe was a member of the Eastern Gate Baptist Church, in Springfield. Joe drove the OATS bus for many years and won many awards for safe driving.
Joe is survived by his wife, Zelma; his children Dan Moore of Republic, Herb Moore of Spokane, Susie Neal, her husband Gary, of Highlandville, Paula Moore, her husband Tim, of Springfield; his step children Ricky Bilyeu of Chestnut Ridge, Rhonda Forman or Springfield, and Sondra Lock of Springfield; brothers Jerry Moore, his wife Ruth, of Nixa, and Dewey Moore, his wife Margaret, of Nixa; sisters Genetta Ford of Nixa, Claudette Taylor of Highlandville, and Sharon Rysted of Selmore; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter-in-law Becky Moore.
A graveside service will be held, with full military honors, at 2:00 PM Friday, December 16, 2016 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
Cremation was under the Direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
