Joann Elaine McCorkle, age 78, of Nixa passed away Tuesday April 5, 2016. She was born February 1, 1938 in Stover, to Ray and Rhea (Berkstresser) Goetze. After graduating from Stover High School, Joann went to Kansas City for work and there Joann and Charles found each other. They were married April 3, 1964. Joann and Charles lived in many places that Charles' job took them. Joann was a great support for her husband and made each new place a happy home for her family. She took pride in dressing neat and keeping a tidy home.� She loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Joann loved her family and was always ready to share stories and pictures of them.� Joann was very outgoing and social. She was a member of several organizations, such as the Nixa Chamber of Commerce, the Nixa Community Foundation, and was a founding member of the Nixa Azealia Festival Association. Her favorite sport was NASCAR racing. It was known not to call Joann while she was watching a race.�

Joann is survived by her husband Charles of 52 years; her children Sheryl Webb, husband Keith, of Jonesboro, AR, Ken McCorkle, wife Pam, of Carrollton, TX; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother Jim Goetze, wife Sharon, of Stover; a sister-in-law Connie Goetze, of Versailles and many nieces and nephews.

Joann is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Dan Goetze.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, Jonesboro, AR.
