Jimmie Dale Tennis

Jimmie Dale Tennis, age 72, of Spokane, passed away at 1:05 AM, Thursday, April 4, 2013. He was born October 18, 1940, in Highlandville, the son of Stevie and Edna (Melton) Tennis. On September 3, 1959, he and Frances Helen Lindsey were united in marriage. At the age of 19, Jimmie started his career as a truck driver. He retired as a driver for Associated Grocers. He enjoyed woodworking, fixing up old cars, and caring for his cattle. During his illness, Jimmie was saved and became a witness to others as he bravely struggled with cancer. He loved his family and cared for the love of his life, Frances, for over 52 years. Survivors include: His wife, Frances; two children, Dalene Snavely and husband David of Spokane, and Jack Tennis and wife Glenda of Chestnutridge; six grandchildren, Shyra Bilyeu and husband Bill, Kyle Tatum, Caleb Tatum and wife Danielle, Skyler Tatum and Jordan Lair, Justin Tennis and wife Marlana, and Lindsey Hartley and husband Tyler; great-grandchildren, Casen, Cheyanne, Hadley Grace, Mya, Desirae, Landon, Shelby Jo and Dasia; three sisters, Florene Huff of Nixa, Darlene Kessinger and husband Roger, Ozark, and Kathy Young and husband Bill, Nixa; and a brother, Bill Tennis and wife Phyllis, Rogersville. Jimmie is also survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin James Tennis, three brothers, Verlin Tennis, Joe Tennis and Bobby Tennis, and his parents. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, April 7, in Faith Baptist Church Spokane, with Pastor James Mohler officiating. Burial will follow in Spokane Cemetery.
