Jessie V. Montgomery Blevins, age 96, passed away in Ozark, Missouri on December 5, 2011. Mrs. Montgomery was born on June 20, 1915 in Highlandville, Missouri to Ida Mae (Davis) and Charlie N. Shelton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Highlandville. In 1933 she married Albert E. Montgomery in Ozark, Missouri. The couple made their home in Ozark. They followed his work over the years. Jessie worked at International Shoe Company in Hermann for many years and retired from Banquet Foods in Moberly, Missouri. They moved back to Highlandville in 1982 where Albert died in 1985. After Albert"�s death Jessie remarried the Reverend Howard Blevins in September 1996. The couple enjoyed ten years of marriage living in Highlandville and Ozark. Husbands Albert Montgomery and Howard Blevins preceded Jessie in death. Siblings who preceded her in death were sisters Callie Hammond, Maggie Sample, and Eula May Shipman, and her brothers Mack, Lester, Clell, Lloyd and Lonnie Shelton. Jessie enjoyed weekly lunch meetings and socializing with friends and neighbors. She was active in organizing "Pickle Day"� for a neighbor who was wheel chair bound. The Highlandville seniors and friends would take Edward (Pickle) Brown to lunch at various restaurants in nearby towns to eat, visit, joke, and reminisce about the adventures of growing up in the Ozark"�s during "hard times"�. Jessie enjoyed making quilts and gave many to friends and neighbors. She had many heritage patterns. Using sewing scraps or store bought colorful material, she made wedding ring, bow tie, or Jacob"�s ladder quilts from the old hand-me-down patterns. She particularly enjoyed making cheerful baby quilts. Survivors include her son Ray Montgomery and his wife Roma of Gilbert, Arizona; granddaughter Renata Duran and husband Joe and great grandsons Joe Jr., Russell, and Jayden all of Gilbert, Arizona; stepchildren Judy Ware and husband Afton of Highlandville, Missouri, Barbara Heyer of Webster, Wisconsin, and Wally Sims and wife Sharon of Lawson, Missouri. Her sister Pearl Brumley of Ozark, Missouri; nephews Paul Shipman and his companion Beulah Maxwell, Farris Shipman and wife Wanda, Stanley Shelton, Phil Shelton, Ronald Shelton, Bill Shelton, and Richard Shelton; nieces Carol Jean Webber, Carol McDaid, Judy Conley, Pat Lipe, Janie Whiting, Iris Whales, Carol Ahearn, Shirley Burnett, Cleta Allen, and Mary Ellen Neff; and numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Ozark Nursing and Care Center for their loving care. A celebration of Jessie"�s life will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 8, 2011 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri with Pastor Danny Hartwell officiating. Burial will follow in Highlandville Cemetery next to her first husband Albert. Visitation will be 5:00 "� 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in the funeral home.
