Jean O' Brien

September 30, 1940 — March 22, 2022

Jean O’Brien

Formally of Kansas City Missouri passed on March 22 in her residence in South Springfield with her children by her side. Jean succumbed to Alzheimer’s that she has been fighting for 10+ years. Jean’s in home care giver Angie Smuda took wonderful care of her the last year, without Angie this time would have been even more difficult. Rather than flowers, the family would like donations made to the Alzheimer’s Association to help find a cure for this horrible disease.

Jean was born on September 30th, 1940, to Max and Lila Bunnell in her hometown of Enid Oklahoma. Jean has two siblings who she loved dearly, Kathryn Bunnell (Bernice Oklahoma) and Marty Bunnell (deceased of Wichita Kansas).

When Jean graduated from Enid High School, she moved to Washington DC and worked for the FBI. Jean also worked for St. John’s Hospital and The Wichita Eagle and Beacon as part of the Administration Team.

When Jean left Washington DC, she returned to Enid, married her high school sweetheart and had three children Mike Hoisington (Springfield), Lori Hood (husband Mike Keller of Springfield) and Marty Hoisington (Kansas City, wife Marcelle). Jean has 4 grandchildren, Leslie Crain, Katy Sudermann, Max Hoisington and Marty Hoisington. Jean has 4 great grandchildren, Emily and Ella Crain, Brody and Blake Sudermann.

In December of 1996 she married the love of her life Patrick O’Brien. Jean and Pat loved to travel and were lucky enough to be able to do this together while working for Fabri Quilt of North Kansas City, while living in Southern California and eventually moving to Pat’s home town of Kansas City Missouri.

As much as Jean and Pat loved family and travel, they enjoyed being together even more and became the team of Pat and Jean. Their love was extra special, and it was visible to all who knew and loved them.

We are having a celebration of Jeans life Sunday March 27, from 2-4PM at her granddaughter’s home Leslie, found at 1340 East Lakewood, Springfield.
