Janet M. Ladd, age 78, a long time resident of Sparta, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025 in the home of her daughter, Amye. She was born August 1, 1946 in Mountain Grove, the daughter of George and Edrie (Galloway) Lindholm. Janet was a 1964 graduate of Mountain Grove High School, and in 1968 received a bachelors degree from Southwest Missouri State College (now MSU).
On April 29, 1977 she and Donald Earl “Archie” were married. He preceded Janet in death on April 14, 2020. In 2000 Janet retired after 32 years of service as a social worker for the State of Missouri.
Janet was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, attending all ball games and activities for Amye and her granddaughters. She was a talented seamstress and took pride in altering uniforms, always completed perfectly. She made Christmas stockings and blankets for family members and friends. Janet was always willing to help with the family farm - keeping records, raising orphaned calves, and preparing meals when there was farm work to be done. She never wanted anyone to leave from her table hungry. She loved college basketball, especially the Duke Blue Devils.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Amye Johnson and husband, Daniel, of Sparta; and her granddaughters, Allye and Bailye; nieces, Sherry Phillips, Tammy O'Brien and husband Donnie, Kristy Parker and husband Melvin; Erica Wise and husband David, Edrie Martin; a sister-in-law, Lois Lindholm; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Janet in death were: Her husband, Archie; a brother, Russell Lindholm;a sister-in-law, Shirley Brown; and great-niece, Gina Phillips.
The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice and Jennifer from Haven Home Health, for the loving care given to Janet throughout her illness.
A graveside funeral will be 3:00 PM Monday, March 31, in Sparta Cemetery, with Rick Jones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Friends are welcome to stop by the funeral home anytime Monday before the funeral to sign the book and receive a memorial folder.
