James C. Phillips, age 89, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011, at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born February 26, 1922 in Seymour, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Naomi Phillips. On May 21, 1950 he and Barbara J. Held were married. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, Seabees Division as a surveyor. James worked with White Truck Company in Kansas City, Topeka, Kansas and Springfield, Missouri, for many years. He worked at Bass Pro Shop for ten years as a PACE worker. In 2009 James relocated from Nixa to Jacksonville, Florida. James was a member of Nixa Christian Church and attended Riverside United Church of Christ in Jacksonville, Florida. He was also a member of the Nixa VFW. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle to his family. Survivors include: two daughters, Sue Phillips Jacksonville, Florida, and Carol Bingle and husband Brian, Nixa, Missouri; two grandchildren, Curtis and Whitney Bingle; two half-brothers, Richard Phillips and Larry Phillips; and nieces and nephews. His wife, Barbara preceded him in death in 2003. Funeral services will be 12 noon Wednesday, October 26, in Nixa Christian Church, with Pastor Chad Mattingly officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:30 "� 7:30 PM Tuesday in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
