James D. Nord died Monday, March 4, 2019. He was born November 15, 1944 in St. Charles, Illinois, the son of Elwin and Evelyn (Green) Nord.
On January 7, 1967 James was united in marriage to Ava (Hilton), who survives him.
James served in the U. S. Air Force after graduating from high school. James had a long and rewarding career with Red Lobster restaurants. He was a district manager as well as setting up new restaurants across the United States. He managed Red Lobster in Springfield for 20 years, retiring in 2007.
James was a kind and generous man. He always "told it the way it was". He had a dry, teasing sense of humor. James was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed target practicing. He was also a fan of John Wayne Movies. James loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include: children, James R. Nord and wife Susan of Seymour, Mark E. Nord of Highlandville, Paul V. Nord and wife Melynda of Ozark, Rebecca A. Nord of Highlandville, Katherine Allen of Marshfield; his brothers, David Nord and wife Rae, Ft. Collins, Colorado, Steve Nord, DeKalb, Illinois; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and a great granddaughter.
A private memorial service will be held at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
