James Lewis Cardwell, age 76, of Nixa, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011. He was born November 11, 1935 in Gilliam, Missouri, the son of Orin and Bernice (Davison) Cardwell. James served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He also worked for the U.S. Postal System and as a firefighter for the Forestry Department in California. He and his wife, Carol were united in marriage on August 13, 1994. James was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association in Springfield. Survivors include: His wife, Carol; seven children, Ann, Steve, Mike, Tony, Tim, James, and Sharon; eight grandchildren, two of which were raised in the home, T.J. and Sean; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gene Cardwell, and a great-granddaughter, Zoie. Military honors will be presented at 3:00 PM Monday, December 5, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 PM on Monday.
