James Charles Bowman, age 71, of Highlandville, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011. He was born December 29, 1939 in Warren, Indiana, the son of Paul and Marie (Jordan) Bowman. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Early in his working career, James was a space craft electrical engineer. He was a television technician for many years. James was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, and lived in the Highlandville area for most of his life. He was a member of American Legion Post #676. Survivors include: His wife of over 40 years, Patricia; six children, James Bowman, AZ, Gregory Bowman, CO, Lonnie Bowman, CA, Diane Hough and husband Gary, AZ, Kelly Baumann, Nixa, and Kathy Machala and husband Bob, Springfield; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, William Bowman and wife Judy, CA; two sisters, Bettie Johnson and husband Thomas, Buffalo, and Sharon Strait, Springfield; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard. A graveside memorial service will be 2:30 PM Tuesday, January 25 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
