Jacqueline "Jackie" Terrell

Jacqueline K. "Jackie" Terrell, 78 of Ozark, peacefully passed away in Springfield, MO surrounded by family members and friends on May 10, 2016. Jackie was born in Wichita, KS on November 13, 1937 to Raymond "Wynn" Mace and Ida M. Mace, both whom preceded her in death. The love of her life for some 50 years, 44 of such being married, Rodney L. "Rod" Terrell, preceded her in death on August 20, 2003. They were married on August 9, 1959. She was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Opal Lewis Terrell and the grandparents whom raised her beloved "Roddy", V.D. and Mollie Lewis, along with many uncles, aunts and many dear friends, including special friends, Richard McMullin, Everett Smith, Susie Rollins, Kay Wakefield and Evelyn Swyers. Jackie is lovingly survived by two sons; Wade Terrell and his partner, Glen Wisdom of Ozark; Kyle Terrell and his wife - a truly special daughter-in-law, Sandra Terrell of Springfield; four grandchildren; Kristen Terrell of Springfield; Keli Jo Allen and her husband, Stephen Allen of Clever; Collin Terrell and Miranda Terrell of Springfield; three great-grandchildren; Shelbi Jo Allen and Trenton Allen of Clever; and Kamryn Hancock of Springfield. Jackie is also survived by five very special friends, that all were like sisters to her; Linda Smith of Ozark, Wanda McMullin of Ozark, Barbara Lloyd of Ozark, Sarah Wojciechowski of Ozark and Marsha Matthews of Ozark. Grady Lloyd of Ozark, Ronald Tindle of Springfield, Jerry Countryman of Ozark, as well as Dale and Linda Grosef of Ozark were also very special friends. Jackie is also survived by a host of many other dear friends and professional colleagues. Jackie graduated from Independence, KS High School in 1955. She then went on to Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, KS, where she graduated as a RN in 1958. While she was in medical school, her beloved "Roddy" was serving in the military overseas. She never failed to write a letter each and every day to him during this time. Her career in the field of medicine which spanned over 50 years as a RN, started at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, KS; continued on at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS, then as the Plant Nurse at Fasco Industries in Ozark before she began a 21 year stint as the Staff Development Coordinator - Surgery at ST John's Regional Medical Center in Springfield, where she retired from in 2001. After retiring from ST John's she started Gel-Tec with her business partner, Ken Anderson. She was active with Gel-Tec as the company's vice-president until retiring in 2009. Jackie was an active member of AORN and maintained her professional license as an RN until the day she passed away. Jackie had a heart of gold and was always a person with compassion and caring for everyone. She was a consummate professional, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sturday, May 14, 2016. A service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Jackie and Rod will be buried together at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Lake Springfield on a later date. The family is thankful for the care given to Jackie over the past years by Dr. Stanley Wiggins, Dr. Sunthosh Venkata Parvathaneni, Dr. Donald Nelson, Dr. Racheline Middleton and Dr. Shelby Deckard (retired) as well as all of the medical staff personnel that attended to her at Mercy and Cox South. Each one of you gave her more time with us and we are forever grateful. In lieu of flowers and following Jackie's wishes, the family respectfully requests that you make a memorial contribution to the Family Crisis Center of Christian County and/or to the Finley River Community Foundation in her name.
