Jacob Allen Gilbert, age 13, of Nixa, a courageous boy who could make anyone smile, passed away in his home on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Although confined at home, Jacob loved life. He enjoyed rock ‘n roll, pretty girls, baseball, and the TV show Emergency. On his 10th birthday, Jacob threw out the first pitch at a Cardinal Baseball Game. He was able to visit Disney World at the age of three, and never forgot the fun he had. Jacob was all boy, scaring nurses and playing pranks whenever the opportunity would arise.
Survivors include: His parents, Mark and Rhonda (Ragsdale) Gilbert; his grandmothers, Charlene Ambro of High Ridge, MO, and Wilma Gilbert of Lamar, MO; his brother, Zach Glossip of Springfield; two sisters, Mandy Winefeldt and husband Mickeal of Lockwood, MO, and Carissa Gilbert of Springfield; two aunts, Jan Wood and husband Mark of Florissant, MO, and Sheri Hunter and husband Mike of Cedartown, GA; an uncle, Brian Gilbert and wife Gwen of Lamar; a nephew, Brett Winefeldt; niece Raven Winefeldt; and seven cousins, Caleb, Adam, Aaron, Sarah, Heidi, Leslie, and Emily.
A celebration of Jacob's life will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Springfield with Hosea Bilyeu officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery, Nixa.
