Jackie (Jack) R Scott, age 85, of Nixa passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019. He was born February 21, 1934 in Celina, TX to General and Alma Scott. Jack was raised in Pomona, CA since the age of seven. He was united in marriage to Eva Bradford August 20, 1955 in the Pomona Church of God. They were introduced to each other in the Church of God parking lot by Jack's mother.
Jack and Eva became missionaries in 1956 to Honduras and then Costa Rica. They returned to California after serving three years. Jack taught at the Church of God Elementary School and later went to work for the State of California at the Chino Juvenile Detention Center as a social worker. After ten years, he transferred to the rehabilitation department where he finished his career. After retiring Jack and Eva moved to the mid-west to be close to family.
Jack was a thinking man. He enjoyed reading and studying Genealogy. He published books and family stories.
He wrote Christmas stories to read to the family at Christmas. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage making miniature homes and churches. He taught his son, Tim, how to work on bikes, motorcycles, cars and machinery.
He took the family camping in the high desert and Big Bear Lake.
Jack was a member of James River Church and served as an usher. He loved the Lord and dedicated his life to serving him.
Jack is survived by his wife, Eva; his son Tim; former daughter-in-law Dana Scott; a granddaughter Jessy Scott, her husband Mat and one grandson Benjamin Scott.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Bernice, Orville, Arthur Dale, Billy, Glen and Toy.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, June 2, 2019 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 3, 2019 in the funeral home with Tim Snider officiating. Burial will follow at Schupbach Cemetery.
