Ian David MacKenzie, age 64 of Nixa, MO, died April 1, 2021. He was born October 18, in Chicago, Illinois to William and Ivy (Ballard)Mackenzie.
He started working in restaurants in his teens and found his calling. He worked for many years as a District Manager for Wendy’s of Missouri before moving on to Mexican Villa. He loved talking to all the customers and made sure that all received the best service possible under his watch. He always talked about his regulars that came to see him.
His other passion was his granddaughters, Kaiya and Kaleah. They had him wrapped around their fingers. Whether it was playing in the pool or letting them paint his nails and put pigtails in his hair (yes, please picture that ߘ), he was always happy around his girls.
In recent years, Dana introduced him to the in -person joys of a NASCAR race. At home he always just “watched for the wrecks”, but after taking in a live race, he was always ready for the next race.
Survivors include: wife, Dana of Nixa, son Adam (Victoria) of Springfield, daughter Ashley of Springfield, step-son Kelsey Smith, Arlington MA, and the woman that gave him his favorite girls, Lindsey Riley of Springfield, granddaughters Kaiya and Kaleah, siblings Scott of Wisconsin, Janice (Jeff) of Arizona, Jane of Ohio, Doug (Lisa) of Illinois, Gordon (Debbie) of Illinois, Kathy (Char) of Illinois, and Stuart (Kim) of Illinois, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
