Howard “Don” Walker, age 74, of Lebanon, passed away from Covid on August 26, 2021 in St. Louis.
Don was preceded in death by a son, Michael Walker, his parents, Howard and Edna Walker, a sister Lynda and Husband Bob Lutgen.
Survivors include: his longtime companion and best friend Linda Callahan.; two sons, Donnie Walker and wife MaryAnn, and Bradley Walker and wife Theresa; daughter Michele Carter and husband Joe; a brother Wayne Walker and wife Patty; two sisters, Patty Jenkins and Davanil Rehagen and husband Greg; uncle Harley Walker; Pauline and Ralph Froiland; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Don was an autobody technician and painter in the Springfield area until he retired in 2003.
Don never knew a stranger and had a nickname for everyone he knew. He always had a smile on his face and we are sure something ornery stirring in his head, he was quite the jokester
Don had a passion for racing, he spent countless weekends dirt tack racing with his boys. After he retired, he took up go kart racing and built his own track, Cedar Patch. He would spend hours upon hours trying to get 25 hp out of a 6 hp motor.
He spent a lot of time at the lake fishing for crappie with his best friend Linda and we are pretty sure she out-fished him every time and he was proud of that.
The family would like to thank you for all the prayer. He was loved and will be missed by so many.
A graveside funeral will be 11:30AM Thursday, September 2, at Glenn Cemetery, south of Nixa. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
