Howard "Bub" Mease

Howard Lee “Bub” Mease, age 79 of Cape Fair, died in his home November 8, 2022, He was born May 14, 1943, in Reeds Spring, the son of Vernon Kyle “V.K” and Delma Eliza (Jones) Mease.  Bub was a 1961 graduate of Galena High School.  He was married to Ruth Ann Holt and together they had two children. 

 

Bub joined the U.S. Navy in 1964 and served on a nuclear submarine before he completed his service in 1968.  Immediately Bub attended the Missouri Highway Patrol Academy.  Sgt. Howard Lee Mease served the state of Missouri as a Highway Patrolman until retirement in 1995.  On July 3, 1999, he and Rayla Jo Snider Allen were married. 

 

Bub was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and the St. Louis Cardinals.  He was a member of Orange Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  He was also a Mason and member of Shriners International. 

 

Survivors include:  His wife, Rayla; two daughters, Lesley Ann Sumners and husband Tyler of Republic, and Kerry Lea Holt Dishman and husband Jeff of Branson; grandchildren, Zachary Sumners and wife Dara of Republic, Clayton Sumners of Republic, Jaycie Walden and husband Cole of Branson, and Jaron Dishman of Branson; great-grandchildren, Zoey and Oliver Sumners; and two brothers Kyle Dean Mease of New York and Rodney Arthur Mease and wife Gale of Reeds Spring; other relatives and many good friends.

 

Bub was preceded in death by a brother Michael Mease, sister-in-law Ruthie Mease, and his parents.

 

Visitation will be 1:00 – 4:00 PM Saturday, November 12, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.  Military honors will be presented at 2:30. Burial will be at a later date in Yocum Pond Cemetery, Reeds Spring.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Cumberland in Greenfield, through Adams Funeral Home. 

 

Cremation rites have been entrusted to Adams Crematory.  Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
