Herle E. Gardner

Herle E. Gardner, age 94 of Sparta, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014. He was born November 20, 1920 in Oldfield, the son of William and Margaret (Richardson) Gardner. On March 2, 1941 Herle and Edna Belle Brown were united in marriage, and were happily married for 65 years. Three years later, Herle married Henrietta Isbell, who preceded him in death in 2013. Herle served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army. He worked as a salesman in dry goods, achieving top salesman honors. Herle served the Lord as a Church of Christ preacher for more than 40 years. He loved spending time with his family. Herle's hobbies included hunting, fishing and metal detecting. Survivors include: five children, Bob Gardner, Bruner, Bill Gardner and wife Sue, Oldfield, Ben Gardner and wife Judy, Sparta, Don Gardner and wife Nancy, Sparta, and Sherry Goins and husband Eddie, Sparta; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. Herle was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Belle Gardner; his second wife, Henrietta Isbell; two sisters, Myrle Patterson and Helen Armstrong; and a brother, Lewis Gardner. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial with full military honors will follow in Oldfield Cemetery, Oldfield, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. Saturday immediately before the funeral service in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Oldfield Cemetery Fund.
