Harold Gene Melton

Harold Gene "Snuffy" Melton of Ozark, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2024 at the age of 85. He was born on November 21, 1938 to Lenvil Greenberry and Ida Harriet (Meadows) Melton. 

After graduating from Ozark High School, he joined the Marines for two years. Harold married the love of his life, Judy Ann Adams on March 14, 1959 with whom he shared a joyful and fulfilling marriage until her passing in 2009. Together they had four children: Beverly, Delburt, Jerry David, and Billy. He was a hard working husband and father and spent 21 years with MFA Feed and 25 years with Ash Grove Lime Company. Harold was an avid reader of Western novels; you never saw him without a stack of books next to his chair and bed. He also loved to watch Western movies, fishing, woodworking, traveling on vacations with his wife and family, spending time with his grandchildren and reminiscing about the "good old days." Harold is survived by his brother, Orville Glen "Moe" Melton of Springfield; daughter, Beverly Marshall and her husband Steve of Ozark; sons, Delburt Melton and his wife Missy of Crane, Jerry David Melton and his wife Jeanette of Ozark, and Billy Melton and his wife Robbin of Ozark; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great grandson. 

Harold is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; sisters, Maggie Louise Jones and her husband Richard, Dorothy Braden and her husband John; brother, Richard Lee Melton and his wife Sandy; sister-in-law, Dolly Melton; and granddaughters, Amber and Misty Melton.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Bob Long officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Rogersville.  Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
