Gerald Max Guthrie, age 87 of Ozark, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019. He was born December 4, 1931 in Carthage, Missouri, the son of Leo and Violet Guthrie.
In 1950 Gerald was united in marriage to Dolores Irene Sutter.
Gerald worked as a tool and die maker for several companies throughout his machinist career. Gerald dedicated his life to helping others, working for the Christian County Coalition of Aging, visiting homes and installing medical alert devices. He also volunteered for St. John's/Mercy in Springfield for over 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the great Ozark outdoors. Some of his favorite hobbies were playing dominoes, cards, and attending the horse races. His life was full of joy visiting with his many grandkids and great grandchildren. He was a member of Ozark Full Gospel Church where he rededicated his life to the Lord in 2018.
Survivors include: his children, Kristine Layton, Theresa Weter and husband Donald, Ronald Guthrie and wife Gale, Diane Gimlin, Robert Guthrie and wife Denise, Susan Wagner, Steven Guthrie and wife Pam; grandchildren, Scott Lytle, Luke and Nicholas Weter, Anna-Liza Ettinger, Amy Whiteman, Lacey Williams, Chrystal Irons, Christopher Guthrie, Michael Marler and Killian Guthrie; great grandchildren, Zoey, Katrina, Joshua and Justin Lytle, Joshua Weter, Kira and Lane Weter, Elias Ettinger, Abby and Mason Whiteman, Madyson, Jacob and Molly Williams, Cayden, Cameron and Cayleb Irons, and Tiberius Marler; and a sister, Ruby Irene Sutter.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Delores; two grandchildren, Joshua Weter and Wade Lytle; and a great grandchild, Zachary Lytle; and his other siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M., Friday, November 22, 2019 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Richard Orrell officiating. Visitation will be held immediately prior to the funeral from 5-6 P.M. for family and friends.
Burial will be at 11 A.M. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Hopedale Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
