Gerald Joseph Alfafara, Sr., age 85 of Ozark, died August 20, 2014. He was born February 24, 1929 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Gaspar and Odette (LeGoas) Alfafara.
Gerald served his country in the U.S. Army, Army Air Force and Navy during World War II and The Korean War.
On September 4, 1954 he was united in marriage to Marjorie "Midge" Mounts. They lived in California for many years and moved to Ozark from Sun City, Arizona.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Barnes Barefield Alfafara; his daughter, Jeri Anghel; two sons; Gerald Alfafara, Jr. and Mark Huxley; 13 grandchildren, Dawn Ohagan, LaChandra Spratt, Angel Shortt, Natasha Suydam, Joshua Anghel, Steven Huxley, Thomas Huxley, Joseph Huxley, Cody Alfafara, Cole Alfafara, Clay Alfafara, Cheyenna Alfafara and Makaely Alfafara; 12 great grandchildren, Keenan, Autumn, Summer, Tanner, Cade, Jada, Zoey, Brayden, Ava, Aiden, Hayden and Trevor; and two sisters, Odette Safranek and Angella Devlin.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marjorie "Midge" Alfafara; and his second wife, Marie Fessenden.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 25, 2014 in Selmore Cemetery, Ozark, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
