Georgetta Merideth, age 74, of Nixa passed away Friday, February 17, 2017. She was born June 8, 1942 in Forsyth to Almond and Alta Fay (Bunch) Groesbeck. She was united in marriage to Harley Merideth August 18, 1962 in Springfield at Georgetta's uncle's home, celebrating 55 years of marriage.
Georgetta worked at Cox Medical Center for over 30 years as a phlebotomist. Her daughter Kimberly followed in her footsteps as a Cox phlebotomist. Georgetta was a kind and loving person. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Her biggest love in her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Georgetta was a member of the Red Hatters Club and enjoyed spending time with her friends. She loved dancing with Harley at square dances and clogging events. Georgetta was Past Matron of the Eatern Star, Queen City Chapter. She and Harley attended Finley River Cowboy Church and she loved the church family.
Georgetta is survived by her husband, Harley; a daughter Kimberly Cook, husband John of Ozark; a sister Alice Bell, husband Freddy of Republic; a brother Gary Groesbeck, wife Sally of Springfield; a sister-in-law Norma Merideth; two grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Georgetta is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Jimmy.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2017 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A visitation will be held following the service at 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN.
