George E. Young

George E. Young Jr., age 86, of Nixa, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013. He was born November 26, 1926, in Nixa, the son of George Elmer and Nona Grace (Herndon) Young. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. On May 28, 1949, he and Glywn Dora Taylor were united in marriage in Ava, Missouri. George was a long time member of Calvary Bible Church in Nixa. He had worked for White River Valley Co-op and later for Allstate Insurance Company. He always enjoyed farming. George loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: His wife, Glywn Dora; his son Terry Young and wife Karan of Nixa; three grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie and Jubal Hicks, Alicia and Bryan Inmon, and Jeremy and Clarissa Young; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Inmon and Evan Hicks; three sisters, Marcella Wood of Springfield, Mary Ellen Brown and husband Bob of Wichita, Kansas, and Joyce Perryman of Aurora; and a brother, Kenneth Young and wife Sallye of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 25, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Rev. Lance Ogden and Rev. Joseph Fahl officiating. Burial will follow in Delaware Cemetery. Friends may come by the funeral home for viewing from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday.
